Make a Material Difference in the Heart of the North West region

Volunteering

Your time is precious, which is why we really appreciate any contribution in terms of volunteering hours that you can make to the sustainability work that EMERGE’s projects carry out in Manchester to help people in need and to protect the planet.

It’s not just about how you can help us though. Volunteering with all our initiatives is a two-way street. We’ll do our very best to make sure that you gain as much as you give; whether that’s experience and skills for your CV to help with your job seeking, or the chance to make new friends and improve your mental and physical fitness levels. In some cases, we can even offer qualifications. Whatever your reasons are for volunteering, we’ll help you achieve those aims.

Whether you’re a student, stay-at-home parent, actively retired person, job-seeker, or just someone with a bit of spare time who wants to support your community or contribute towards environmental conservation, we have lots of different volunteering opportunities that could suit you.

In our FareShare Greater Manchester surplus food redistribution project, we have volunteer office roles in customer service, data entry and food allocation. Or, if you prefer something more active, why not join our warehouse team where you can choose from a wide range of opportunities, including order pickers, food sorters, and van loaders and drivers.

There’s also our sister project Touch Wood, where our volunteers learn practical skills associated with processing waste timber for resale and transforming reclaimed wood into hand-crafted items and furniture.

We also occasionally have volunteer roles available in our Recycling facility, and in the office of EMERGE 3Rs, our parent charity.

Click on the links below to discover more about each of our projects and how you can get involved. You’ll also be able to download documents giving more detail about the many rewarding roles we have on offer.
